Tucker sidelined by elbow injury

BOURBONNAIS, Ill., Aug. 18 (UPI) -- The Chicago Bears announced Tuesday guard Rex Tucker will be sidelined eight to 10 weeks because of a dislocated left elbow.

Tucker, who has suffered serious leg injuries each of the last three seasons, is not expected to return until at least the fifth game of the regular season, Oct. 17 against Washington.

Tucker suffered the elbow injury during practice Monday. The Chicago Sun-Times noted Wednesday before he is ready to return, it will have been two years since Tucker played in a game. He has missed 27 of 32 games the previous two seasons.

"It just breaks your heart because you see how he worked so hard and was looking forward to starting out this season without any problems," tackle John Tait was quoted as saying on the team's Web site.

Tucker will be replaced at left guard by Reuben Brown, who moves over from right guard. Mike Gandy and Terrence Metcalf will fill that spot.
