
KANSAS CITY, Mo., Aug. 18 (UPI) -- John Buck's two-run homer in the eighth inning helped Kansas City rally to beat Seattle, 3-2,Wednesday night.
Buck ended 2-for-3 with two runs scored and David DeJesus was 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Royals, who rebounded from Tuesday's 16-3 rout.
D.J. Carrasco (2-1) worked two perfect innings to record the win. The Royals got a solid pitching performance from Jimmy Serrano, making just his third career start.
Jolbert Cabrera provided the Seattle offense with a two-run homer as the Mariners saw their brief two-game winning streak come to an end.
The Mariners played most of the contest without starting rightfielder Ichiro Suzuki, who left the game in the top of the third inning after he was hit in the head by a pitch from Serrano. He suffered a mild concussion on the play and is listed as day-to-day.
