WASHINGTON, Aug. 18 (UPI) -- Second-seeded Lleyton Hewitt posted an easy straight-set win Wednesday in second-round action at the $500,000 Legg Mason Tennis Classic.
The Australian beat unseeded Colombian Alejandro Falla 6-3, 6-2 to move into the quarterfinals where he will next meet Frenchman Cyril Saulnier.
The seventh-seeded Saulnier bested Belgian Gilles Elseneer, 6-3, 7-6 (7-2) earlier in the day at the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center.
The 23-year-old Hewitt appears to be on a collision course to meet top-seeded Andre Agassi in the final. Agassi, who beat Hewitt for the Cincinnati title earlier this month, plays his second-round match against Kristian Pless of Denmark Thursday.
In other action on Day 3, fourth-seeded American Robby Ginepri posted a 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 victory over Israeli Harel Levy, while Dutchman Raemon Sluiter ousted sixth-seeded Spaniard Alberto Martin 7-6 (7-4), 5-7, 7-6 (7-2).
