Rafael Nadal wins first ATP title

SOPOT, Poland, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Spaniard Rafael Nadal, 18, won his first ATP singles title Sunday by beating Argentina's Jose Acasuso 6-3, 6-4 in the finals of the Idea Prokom Open.

The two were pitted against each other after they each had to win twice on Saturday, since rain postponed Friday's quarterfinals. Nadal posted a two-set victory over Franco Squillari early Saturday to reach the semifinals. He then defeated Felix Mantilla, 7-5, 6-1 to earn a berth in the final.
