ATHENS, Greece, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- American sprinter Torri Edwards will find out Monday whether she will be able to compete in the Olympics.
Edwards was given a two-year ban last Wednesday by the United States Anti-Doping Agency, which makes her ineligible to compete in Athens. But she appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, which is expected to rule Monday.
Veteran sprinter-hurdler Gail Devers, a three-time Olympic gold medal winner, will likely replace Edwards in the 100-meter dash if Edwards cannot take part.
Edwards also qualified for the 200 and her position in that field will probably be offered to La Shauntea Moore, who finished fourth in the U.S. Trials.
Edwards was suspended after testing positive for the banned stimulant nikethamide at a meet in Martinique in April.
