Team USA meets Brazil in soccer

ATHENS, Greece, Aug. 13 (UPI) -- The American women's Olympic soccer team takes on one of its old foes Saturday as it goes after its second victory in the tournament.

Soccer action began last Wednesday, even though the Olympics technically did not get started until Friday night's opening ceremony, and the United States opened with a 3-0 win over Greece.

With only two of the 10 teams in the women's tourney being eliminated in the preliminary round, the United States' three group games are mere preludes to the main event.

The Americans will face Brazil Saturday in a battle of opening-game winners. Brazil defeated Australia on Wednesday, 1-0.

Defending World Cup champion Germany will face Mexico after smashing China, 8-0. This will be Mexico's first game.

In the men's tournament, Saturday's key game will send Argentina against Tunisia. Argentina overwhelmed Serbia-Montenegro on Wednesday, 6-0, while Tunisia played to a 1-1 tie with Australia.

Iraq, which stunned Portugal on Thursday, will meet Costa Rica on Sunday as it tries to clinch a quarterfinal spot.
