The Americans dominated their match even though the underdog Greeks packed in their defense in hopes of keeping the score respectable.

Defending World Cup champion Germany, a co-favorite with the United States in the women's competition, swept past China, 8-0. Japan was a 1-0 winner over Sweden and Brazil edged Australia, 1-0, in other women's matches.

In the men's tournament, Argentina was the only winner with a 6-0 smashing of Serbia-Montenegro. The other three men's matches were tied -- Mali and Mexico at 0-0, Tunisia and Australia at 1-1 and Greece and South Korea at 2-2.

The Greek men overcame a 2-0 deficit to pull out a surprising tie.
