TAMPA, Fla., Aug. 10 (UPI) -- Longtime Oakland star Tim Brown signed a contract Tuesday with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The 38-year-old receiver, who played 16 years with the Raiders, was released by them last week after he was asked to accept a diminished role in the offense.
"I'm not coming here (to Tampa) just to be a guy," Brown said. "I'm coming here to be the Tim Brown I used to be. I think I have a lot left in the proverbial tank."
Brown is back with Buccaneers Coach Jon Gruden, former coach of the Raiders.
"I'm really excited to be reunited with a class act like Tim Brown," Gruden said. "He's a great football player. His accomplishments are well-documented."
Brown won the Heisman Trophy in 1987 at Notre Dame.
He is third in NFL history with 1,070 receptions and second with 14,734 receiving yards.
