SAN JOSE, Calif., Aug. 3 (UPI) -- The San Jose Sharks Monday re-signed Coach Ron Wilson.
Wilson signed a multiyear contract, as did assistants Tim Hunter and Rob Zettler.
Wilson, in his second season with the Sharks, guided them to a 43-21-12-6 record in 2003-04, tops in the Pacific Division. They had finished in last place in the division the previous year.
"The team's performance on the ice last season under the leadership of this coaching staff speaks for itself," said General Manager Doug Wilson. "We're very pleased to have this group back and are looking forward to even greater successes as we go forward."
Wilson also has coached Washington and Anaheim in the NHL, compiling an overall record of 374-358-101-20.
He will coach the United States team at the World Cup of Hockey next month.
