
MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Carlos Silva pitched his first career shutout Tuesday as the Minnesota Twins defeated the Anaheim Angeles, 10-0.
Silva (10-7) scattered 11 hits as the Twins have won 12 of their last 14 games.
Four players homered for the Twins. Torii Hunter and Henry Blanco each had solo homers, while Corey Koskie and Justin Morneau each had two-run shots as the Twins also had 11 hits.
Shannon Stewart went 3-for-4 with a two-run double, while Blanco finished with three RBI.
John Lackey (9-10) surrendered seven runs on seven hits in 5 2/3 innings for the loss.
Blanco had a two-run single and Stewart added a two-run double in the sixth as the Twins increased their lead to 7-0.
Blanco added a solo shot to lead off the bottom of the eighth, his seventh of the season, for the final margin.
