CHICAGO, July 30 (UPI) -- Chicago's Buildings Commissioner gave the Cubs approval to continue playing at Wrigley Field after safety netting was installed.

The Cubs had a three-game series with Philadelphia, starting Friday.

Building Commissioner Stan Kaderbek said he visited the 90-year-old ballpark to make sure black construction site mesh nylon netting was in place beneath the upper deck after three incidents of falling concrete since June 9.

No one was hurt but Mayor Richard Daley threatened to close the major league's second-oldest stadium if inspectors found it unsafe for fans.

Kaderbek said the protective netting likely will remain under the upper desk for the remainder of the season.
