Rahal, Parsons go into auto hall of fame

NOVI, Mich., July 28 (UPI) -- Former Indianapolis 500 winners Bobby Rahal and Johnnie Parsons will be part of a group inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America on Thursday.

Rahal captured the Indy 500 in 1986 and won two CART series championships. Parsons, who died in 1984, won the race in 1950.

Also inducted Thursday will be NASCAR executive Bill France Jr., NHRA Top Fuel champion Joe Amato, sports car champ Geoff Brabham, driver/builder Don Vesco and Los Angeles Times motorsports writer Shav Glick.
