NEW YORK, July 22 (UPI) -- Major League Baseball suspended Chicago Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano five games Thursday and handed teammate LaTroy Hawkins a three-day suspension.
Both players were fined an undisclosed amount.

Zambrano intentionally beaned Jim Edmonds of the St. Louis Cardinals in a game last Monday at Wrigley Field.
The next day, Hawkins had to be restrained while yelling at umpire Tim Tschida.
