MLB: Minnesota 5, Detroit 4

DETROIT, July 20 (UPI) -- The Minnesota Twins beat the Detroit Tigers, 5-4, Tuesday as Lew Ford doubled and scored in the 10th inning on a sacrifice fly by Jacque Jones.

Jones also hit a solo home run and Justin Morneau added a three-run homer for the Twins.

Grant Balfour (4-1) pitched three scoreless innings of relief for the win, while Joe Nathan retired the Tigers in order in the bottom of the 10th inning for his 26th save.

Craig Monroe hit a two-run homer and Rondell White drove in a pair of runs for the Tigers.

Ford doubled with one out in the visitors' 10th and Tigers reliever Ugueth Urbina (3-4) walked Morneau and Torii Hunter to load the bases for Jones, who sent a high fly ball to the warning track in left field to score Ford easily with the go-ahead run.
