SEATTLE, July 20 (UPI) -- The Boston Red Sox beat the Seattle Mariners, 9-7, Tuesday as David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez hit back-to-back homers in an eight-run fourth inning.
Ortiz had four RBI and took over the major league lead from St. Louis' Scott Rolen with a total of 87. Trot Nixon added a two-run single to help the Red Sox.
Miguel Olivo went 3-for-4 with three runs scored for the Mariners. Ichiro Suzuki had four hits and a career-high four steals. Seattle has now dropped 12 of its last 15 games.
Derek Lowe (8-9) earned the win after issuing four runs on nine hits over the first five innings.
Keith Foulke pitched a scoreless ninth for his 15th save.
Ortiz hit his 26th homer to make the score 7-1 and Ramirez then hit his American League leading 27th homer.
