CHICAGO, July 11 (UPI) -- Steve Ralston scored in the 50th minute Sunday as the New England Revolution disappointed the largest crowd to watch a Chicago Fire game in a 1-1 draw.
In the nightcap of a doubleheader that began with the United States playing to a 1-1 deadlock with Poland, Ralston equalized moments after Damani Ralph converted a penalty kick for Chicago.
Ralston sent a 30-yard free kick over the fall, off the goalpost and past goalkeeper Henry Ring.
After a listless first half, New England's Marshall Leonard tripped Andy Williams in the goalmouth after Williams blasted a shot off the crossbar. Ralph converted from the penalty spot, sliding the ball past goslkeeper Matt Reis.
The 39,529 fans were treated to a rarity when Chicago's DaMarcus Beasley entered at the hour mark after playing a full 90 minutes in the opener for the U.S.
