Cleveland starter C.C. Sabathia was lifted after allowing three runs, five hits and four walks with five strikeouts. Rick White retired the first batter in the sixth, but three consecutive hits produced a run and got Oakland within 5-4.

Matt Miller relieved White (3-4) and yielded a two-run single to Jermaine Dye. Scott Hatteberg was intentionally walked to load the bases and Durazo hit his second grand slam of the season for a 10-5 advantage.

Oakland had two runs in the eighth and four in the ninth to secure the win for Mulder (12-2), who pulled even with Texas' Kenny Rogers for the most victories in baseball. The lefthander has won 10 straight.
