MLB: Detroit 4, Minnesota 2

MINNEAPOLIS, July 10 (UPI) -- Nate Robertson pitched 6 2/3 innings and Ivan Rodriguez hit one of four solo home runs for the Detroit Tigers who beat the Minnesota Twins Saturday, 4-2.

Inserted into the starting rotation on April 14, Robertson has gone 7-4 with a 4.39 ERA and averaging eight strikeouts per nine innings.

Robertson (8-4) allowed two unearned runs and seven hits with two walks and seven strikeouts. He improved to 6-1 in his last 10 starts.

Omar Infante gave Robertson an early lead, opening the game with his seventh homer of the season. Rodriguez, the American League's leading hitter, made it 2-0 with a leadoff homer in the fourth.

Minnesota tied it in the fifth, but Dmitri Young quickly put the Tigers back on top with a two-out homer in the sixth. Marcus Thames added insurance in the seventh with his second of the season.
