MLB: NY Mets 6, NY Yankees 5

NEW YORK, July 4 (UPI) -- Ty Wigginton's second homer of the game broke an eighth-inning tie Sunday and helped the NY Mets win, 6-5, for their first sweep of the NY Yankees.

Wigginton, who hit a two-run shot in the second inning, greeted reliever Tom Gordon (2-3) with a leadoff blast in the eighth. His 10th home run of the season marked his first career multi-homer game.

Orber Moreno (2-1) gave up three hits, including an RBI single to Jorge Posada, in the top of the eighth, but struck out Tony Clark and Jason Giambi with runners in scoring position.

Richard Hidalgo homered for the fourth straight game.

Hitless in 17 at-bats, Bernie Williams went 4-for-5 with his 10th homer and three RBI for the Yankees, who have dropped three straight for the first time since April 22-25.
