MLB: NY Mets 10, NY Yankees 9

NEW YORK, July 3 (UPI) -- Shane Spencer drove in Kaz Matsui with a grounder Tanyon Sturtze could not handle Saturday to give the NY mets a 10-9 win over the NY Yankees.

John Franco (2-4) entered the contest with two outs in the top of the ninth and promptly loaded the bases. But after falling behind pinch hitter Jorge Posada, 3-0, he threw back-to-back strikes, then struck out the catcher.

Sturtze (3-1) immediately got into trouble in the bottom of the inning, walking leadoff hitter Matsui. After Mike Piazza popped out, Sturtze walked Cliff Floyd and hit Richard Hidalgo to load the bases. Spencer then hit a slow grounder about a third of the way toward first.

Floyd hit a three-run homer and Spencer drove in three runs for the Mets.

Tony Clark had four hits, including a pair of homers, drove in three runs and scored three times for the Yankees.
