MLB: Minnesota 6, Arizona 5

PHOENIX, July 3 (UPI) -- An error by Danny Bautista in the ninth inning allowed Luis Rivas to score the go-ahead run Friday night, lifting Minnesota past Arizona, 6-5.

The outcome spoiled the managerial debut of Al Pedrique, who took over the Diamondbacks after Bob Brenly was fired earlier in the day.

Pedrique watched his club battle back from an early 5-0 deficit and tie it. But in the top of the ninth, things fell apart for the Diamondbacks, who have lost 12 of their last 14 games.

With one out, Rivas walked against Stephen Randolph (2-2), who was relieved by Brandon Villafuerte. Pinch-hitter Matt LeCroy greeted the Hawaiian with a double to right-center field, sending Rivas to third.

When Bautista bobbled the ball, Rivas raced home to put the Twins ahead.
