
Rookie Diana Taurasi made six three-pointers and scored a season-high 29 points Thursday night as Phoenix won its second straight, 71-59 over Charlotte.
Phoenix improved to 2-1 on a seven-game road trip.
Taurasi made 11 of 17 shots and added eight assists and seven rebounds.
The Mercury opened the second half on a 15-5 tear for a 44-27 lead with 14:49 remaining.
Murriel Page sparked a decisive run with consecutive jumpers late in the second half as Washington posted a 69-64 victory over Indiana.
Indiana made 10 consecutive free throws to forge a 56-56 tie with four minutes remaining, but Page made back-to-back jumpers to give Washington the lead for good.
In other action, Sacramento defeated New York, 73-47; and Seattle ran away from San Antonio, 76-52.
