HOUSTON, June 30 (UPI) -- Ed Montague, in his 29th season as a major league umpire, was selected Wednesday as the plate umpire for the 75th All-Star Game July 13.

A crew chief that has worked three previous All-Star Games, Montague heads a six-man team that includes four umpires making their debuts.

John Hirschbeck, a 21-year veteran, will work first base while Doug Eddings and Jim Reynolds complete the infield.

Marvin Hudson will handle the left field line with Sam Holbrook manning right field. Eddings, Reynolds, Hudson and Holbrook will be the first timers on the crew.

Baseball Writers Association president Drew Olson, Astros official scorer Ivy McLemore and Houston Chronicle beat reporter Richard Justice will serve as the official scorers.
