FARO-LOULE, Portugal, June 26 (UPI) -- Arjen Robben's penalty kick lifted the Netherlands to a 5-4 shootout win Saturday over Sweden and into the semifinals of Euro 2004.

Each team scored four goals in the shootout before Edwin Van der Sar dove to his left and batted away a spot kick by Sweden's Olof Mellberg. That gave Robben a chance to put away the game and he slotted a low kick past goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson.

In the semifinals, the Netherlands will play host Portugal. The Dutchmen also reached the semifinals four years ago but lost to Italy in a shootout. They lost in the previous two Euro tournaments and in the 1998 World Cup semifinal in shootouts.
