CONCORD, Mass., June 26 (UPI) -- Tom Purtzer shota 4-under-par 68 Saturday for a two-stroke lead the second round of the senior Bank of America Championship.
Purtzer is at 11-under 133, two shots better than John Jacobs and Walter Hall. He began the round with a one-stroke lead over John Harris.
Despite battling a bad back, Purtzer is having an excellent season. He leads the Champions Tour in driving distance and greens in regulation.
Purtzer won the Toshiba Senior Classic in March and is eighth on the money list. He is trying to join Bruce Fleisher and Hale Irwin as the only multiple winners on tour this year.
Jacobs picked up a stroke by firing a 67. Hall kept pace with a 68.
Tied for fourth at 8-under 136 are Jerry Pate (68), Tom Kite (69) and Harris (70). They are one shot better than Doug Tewell (68), Jay Sigel (69) and Craig Stadler (69).
