Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

PARIS, June 25 (UPI) -- Ian Woosnam of Wales and France's Jean-Francois Remesy shared the halfway lead in the French Open Friday at 6-under-par 136.
Woosnam, 46, had three straight bogeys near the end of his round to lose a three-stroke lead.
"You make mistakes and you just have to get on with them," said Woosnam after shooting a 69. "Overall, I played really solid, and anything under 70 is a good score 'round here."
Remesy, 40, is trying to become the first Frenchman to win the title in 35 years.
"I'm playing good and feeling good," he said. "In my own country; it's a great feeling.
Australian Richard Green was three strokes behind the leaders at 139 and Darren Fichardt of South Africa was another shot back.
