Serena, Roddick win; Coria, Myskina out

LONDON, June 25 (UPI) -- Americans Serena Williams and Andy Roddick won second-round Wimbledon matches Friday but high seeds Guillermo Coria and Anastasia Myskina were eliminated.

The top-seeded Williams, winner the past two years, overpowered Stephanie Foretz of France 6-0, 6-4.

The second-seeded Roddick beat Alexander Peya of Austria 6-3, 7-6 (7-2)6-4.

Unseeded 20-year-old German Florian Mayer, the world's 66th-ranked player, came from behind to oust Argentina's Coria, the No. 3 seed.

American Amy Frazier, 31, ranked 36th in the world, stunned Russia's second-seeded Myskina 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, in a third-round match.

Another American, Robby Ginepri, ousted sixth-seeded Juan Carlos Ferrero of Spain.

Australia's Lleyton Hewitt defeated Goran Ivanisevic of Croatia in a third-round battle of former champions. Other winners on the men's side included Britain's Tim Henman, Carlos Moya of Spain, Mark Philippoussis of Australia, Dominik Hrbaty of Slovakia and Taylor Dent of the United States.

Other women advancing included Amelie Mauresmo of France, Americans Jennifer Capriati and Lindsay Davenport, Paola Suarez of Argentina, Nadio Petrova of Russia and Ali Sugiyama of Japan.
