NEW YORK, June 23 (UPI) -- Sean Casey crushed a two-run homer off John Franco in the 12th inning Wednesday night as Cincinnati pulled out a 6-4 win over the New York Mets.
New York had a season-high, five-game winning streak snapped.
The Mets' relief corps had thrown 11 scoreless innings in the first two games of the three-game series before Casey deposited an 0-1 pitch from Franco (1-4) into the bullpen beyond the right field fence.
It was the second two-run homer of the night for Casey, who matched a career high with five hits.
The blast made a winner of Mike Matthews (2-1), who worked a hitless 11th. Danny Graves pitched the 12th for his major league-leading 28th save.
Wily Mo Pena and D'Angelo Jimenez also homered for Cincinnati, which appeared ready to squander another early lead.
One night after erasing a three-run deficit, the Mets dug themselves out of a 4-0 hole, tying it in the eighth on an RBI single by Richard Hidalgo.
