Walker rejoins Rockies after long absence

DENVER, June 21 (UPI) -- Outfielder Larry Walker, who has missed the entire season because of an injury, may be ready to play for the Colorado Rockies Tuesday at Milwaukee.

The Rockies activated the 37-year-old three-time National League batting champion from the disabled list Sunday. He has been sidelined since spring training with a groin injury.

Walker played five games and batted .222 on a rehabilitation assignment with Class AA Tulsa.

The five-time all-star and seven-time Gold Glove winner hit .284 for the Rockies last season, far below his career average, but was troubled by injuries.

Colorado optioned outfielder Kit Pellow to Class AAA Colorado Springs in the Pacific Coast League to make room on the roster for Walker.
