DENVER, June 20 (UPI) -- Brian Roberts hit a grand slam off Shawn Chacon with two outs in the ninth Sunday as Baltimore ended a seven-game skid with a 4-2 win over Colorado.
Colorado got seven strong innings from starter Joe Kennedy and took a 2-0 lead into the ninth. Rockies Manager Clint Hurdle went to Chacon (0-5), who has struggled in his first season as the team's closer.
Chacon was undone by his wildness, issuing one-out walks to Jerry Hairston Jr. and David Newhan. After pinch hitter Jay Gibbons grounded out, Chacon walked pinch hitter Luis Lopez to load the bases.
Roberts drilled a 1-1 offering over the right field fence as Chacon was saddled with his sixth blown save in 19 chances.
Orioles reliever B.J. Ryan (2-2) retired all five hitters he faced, including three strikeouts, before Jorge Julio finished
with a shaky bottom of the ninth inning.
