
ST. LOUIS, June 19 (UPI) -- Albert Pujols had a late homer for the second straight night Saturday as St Louis extended its winning streak to six games, 9-2 over Cincinnati.
Runner-up for the National League MVP last season, Pujols came to the plate in the seventh inning with the Cardinals trailing, 2-1. He lined the first pitch from Reds starter Jose Acevedo over the left field wall, giving the Cardinals a 4-2 lead.
Friday, Pujols homered in the 10th inning to give the Cardinals a 4-3 victory over the Reds.
Acevedo (3-6) gave up four runs and 11 hits in seven innings.
St Louis broke open the game in the eighth as Scott Rolen, who leads the majors in RBI, had a three-run triple.
Woody Williams (5-6) tossed seven innings, allowing two runs and four hits.
