Srichaphan advances at Nottingham

NOTTINGHAM, England, June 17 (UPI) -- Top seed Paradorn Srichaphan of Thailand beat Wayne Ferrerira of South Africa Thursday to reach the quarterfinals of England's Nottingham Open.

Srichaphan, who turned 25 this week, won 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 and will next meet Sweden's Thomas Johansson, who won 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) over Belgian Olivier rochus.

Greg Rusedski of Britain was a 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 6-1 winner over the No. 5 seed, Vincent Spadea of the United States.

Others advancing included the No. 6 seed, Taylor Dent of the United States; Robin Soderling of Sweden, Hicham Arazi of Morocco and Romania's Victor Hanescu.
