MLB: Florida 2, Chi. White Sox 1 (11 inn.)

MIAMI, June 17 (UPI) -- Matt Treanor's pinch single with two outs in the 11th inning Thursday night scored Luis Castillo and gave Florida a 2-1 win over the Chicago White Sox.

A rookie catcher, Treanor was recalled from the minor leagues earlier this month when Ramon Castro landed on the disabled list. He went five for 13 in his first four games with Florida and came through in the clutch in this one.

Castillo drew a leadoff walk off Cliff Politte (0-2), stole second one out later and took third on a flyout by Mike Lowell. Treanor batted for pitcher Armando Benitez and blooped a soft line drive over the glove of second baseman Juan Uribe.

Treanor's hit made a winner of Benitez (2-0), who worked two scoreless innings.

Despite the win, the World Series champions may have taken a hit to their pitching staff.

Activated from the disabled list before the game, starter Josh Beckett left in the fourth inning with a strained muscle on his left side.
