Colorado pitcher suspended three games

NEW YORK, June 11 (UPI) -- Colorado Rockies reliever Steve Reed was suspended three games Friday for making contact with plate umpire Bruce Dreckman last Sunday.

Reed was thrown out of the game after Dreckman ruled he hit San Francisco's A.J. Pierzynski with the bases loaded. Reed objected to the call, feeling that Pierzynski leaned into the pitch, and was ejected for the first time in his 12-year career.
