
LONDON, June 7 (UPI) -- Englishman Jamie Delgado defeated No. 11 Taylor Dent of the United States in Monday's first round at the Stella Artois Championships.
With Dent serving at 5-4, Delgado erased the match point and went on to post a 5-7, 7-5, 7-6 (7-3) victory in just over two hours. This was the first ATP main draw win of the season for Delgado, who has played only Futures events this year.
Delgado next plays countryman Jonathan Marray, who won 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 over Christophe Rochus of Belgium.
Another English wild card, Arvind Parmar, lost to Canadian wild card Frank Dancevic, 7-5, 1-6, 7-6 (7-5).
Dent was one of three seeded players to lose Monday. No. 10 Max Mirnyi of Belarus lost to France's Nicolas Mahut, 6-4, 6-7 (2-7), 6-4, and Frenchman Olivier Patience downed No. 13 David Ferrer, 4-6, 7-6, 6-4.
