Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24
ARLINGTON, Texas, June 7 (UPI) -- The Texas Rangers placed righthanded reliever Jay Powell on the 15-day disabled list Monday.
Powell went on the DL, retroactive to June 5, with a sore right elbow. The 32-year-old righthander is 1-1 with a 3.38 ERA in 23 relief appearances this season.
Texas activated Doug Brocail from the 15-day disabled list. The 37-year-old righthander has been sidelined since May 12 after undergoing an appendectomy.
Brocail is 0-0 with a 21.00 ERA in four relief stints this seasons.
