NEWPORT, Wales, June 6 (UPI) -- Simon Khan, who set a course record with a 61 on Friday, captured the Celtic Manor Wales Open in a Sunday playoff for his first European Tour title.

The 31-year-old Englishman beat countryman Paul Casey on the second hole of the playoff after both had 21-under-par 267.

Three shots ahead at the start of Sunday's final round, Casey increased that lead to four strokes with only seven holes to play.

Khan reduced his deficit to two with a birdie on the short 14th before Casey pushed his drive at the 15th into deep rough, Casey could only pitch out onto the fairway before watching his third shot spin back down the green from where he three-putted for a double-bogey.

Khan took the lead at the 16th. At the 18th, Casey holed from eight feet for a birdie while Khan's seven footer slipped past the cup.
