MLB: Chicago White Sox 4, Seattle 2

SEATTLE, June 5 (UPI) -- Jon Garland worked 7 1/3 strong innings Friday night as the Chicago White Sox handed Seattle its sixth loss in eight games, 4-2.

Garland (5-2) gave up two runs and four hits, walking one and striking out three. He threw just 64 of 114 pitches for strikes before departing.

Freddy Garcia (3-4), who allowed four runs and seven hits in 7 2/3 innings, has received just 20 runs of support in his 11 starts.

Seattle opened the scoring in the third inning when Rich Aurilia led off with a double, advanced to third on a groundout by Jolbert Cabrera and came home on a two-out single by Ichiro Suzuki.

Chicago took the lead for good one inning later as Juan Uribe led off with a ground-rule double and Frank Thomas followed with his 430th career homer. Thomas extended his hitting streak to 14 games.

The White Sox added a run on an RBI single by Timo Perez in the seventh and took a 4-1 lead on a run-scoring double by Carlos Lee in the eighth. Lee has a career-high 20-game hitting streak.
