Casey takes lead at Wales Open

NEWPORT, Wales, June 5 (UPI) -- Paul Casey, bidding for a spot on the Ryder Cup team, holds a three-shot lead heading into the final round of the Celtic Manor Wales Open.

Casey moved in front of fellow Englishman Simon Khan by firing a 7-under-par 65 on Saturday.

Khan, who shot a 27 over nine holes en route to a course-record 11-under-par 61 Friday, is at 16-under 200 after a 70 Saturday.

South African James Kingston is two shots behind Khan.

Scotland's Colin Montgomerie birdied the 18th Saturday for a 69 and claim a share of fourth place with Englishmen Phil Golding (67) and John Bickerton (63) at 12-under.

Defending champion Ian Poulter recorded a 66 and is 10-under.

Casey currently is in the 10th and final automatic qualifying position for Bernhard Langer's European team which will defend the Ryder Cup trophy at Oakland Hills in September.
