FOXBORO, Mass., June 2 (UPI) -- Striker Brian McBride scored a pair of first-half goals Wednesday night to lead the United States to a 4-0 victory over Honduras.
Eddie Lewis and Tony Sanneh scored in a four-minute span late in the game for the United States, which played its final exhibition before beginning World Cup qualifications June 13 against Grenada in Columbus, Ohio.
The tepid affair drew a crowd of just 11,533 that saw a half-strength Honduran team get beat up from the opening whistle. It was the second-smallest crowd to see a match at Foxboro, eclipsed only by last July's Gold Cup pairing between the United States and Martinique that attracted just 8,780 fans.
McBride got on the board in the 23rd minute when he leaped higher than three defenders to beat goalkeeper Hector Medina at the far post.
