PHILALDELPHIA, Pa., June 1 (UPI) -- Todd Zeile hit a go-ahead single two innings after his game-tying homer Tuesday as the New York Mets beat Philadelphia, 4-1, in 10 innings.
Ricky Bottalico tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings as the Mets spoiled Kevin Millwood's strongest outing of the season.
The Phillies grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning, Manager Larry Bowa called upon Rheal Cormier to bridge the gap to closer Tim Worrell. The move proved to be a mistake as Zeile, opened the eighth by hitting a 3-1 pitch into the left field bleachers, tying the game at 1-1.
Both teams stranded runners in scoring position in the ninth, but New York got to Worrell (1-2) in the 10th.
Zeile's heroics made a winner of Bottalico (2-0), a former closer with the Phillies.
Millwood limited the Mets to four hits and two walks in seven innings while striking out six.
