Report: Keenan, Martin to get Panther jobs

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., May 25 (UPI) -- The Florida Panthers plan to name a new general manager and coach Wednesday and a report says Mike Keenan and Jacques Martin will get the jobs.

The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported Tuesday that Keenan, who was fired as coach last fall by Rick Dudley, will be named to replace Dudley, who was fired as GM Monday, and that Martin, former Ottawa coach, will be the new Panthers coach.

Dudley served as coach and general manager for part of this season before turning over the coaching duties to John Torchetti.

Keenan has coached seven teams in the NHL, compiling a record of 584-471-147. He also was general manager for Chicago, St.Louis and Vancouver.

Martin coached the Senators for 8 1/2 years before he was fired last month. Ottawa made the playoffs in each of his years as coach but never made it to the Stanley Cup finals.
