Wes Helms undergoes knee surgery

MILWAUKEE, May 24 (UPI) -- Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Wes Helms had surgery on his right knee Monday and is expected to be sidelined up to a month.

Helms tore cartilage in the knee when he slipped and fell in a tunnel between the clubhouse and dugout at Hiram Bithorn Stadium in Puerto Rico, where the Brewers played Wednesday against the Montreal Expos. He also banged his head in the accident.
