Davydenko wins at Raiffeisen Grand Prix

ST. POLTEN, Austria, May 18 (UPI) -- Nikolay Davydenko won in straight sets for the second time in as many days Tuesday in the International Raiffeisen Grand Prix.

Davydenko came into this tournament as the third seed but also having lost his last two matches. The mini-slump took some of the luster off his play earlier this month, when he won a claycourt tournament in Munich and reached the quarterfinals in Monte Carlo.

The 2003 finalist eased into the quarterfinals with a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Mario Ancic of Croatia.

Also moving into the round of eight at this claycourt tournament was eighth-seeded Filippo Volandri of Italy, who beat Raemon Sluiter of the Netherlands, 6-4, 6-2.

Davydenko is the highest remaining seed with the withdrawal of No. 2 Sargis Sargsian and the first-round loss by No. 1 Andre Agassi.
