Garcia wins playoff at Byron Nelson

IRVING, Texas, May 16 (UPI) -- Sergio Garcia won the Byron Nelson Championship in a three-way playoff Sunday.

Garcia parred the first extra hole to beat Robert Damron and Dudley Hart after they had tied at 10-under-par 270 at the end of regulation.

The Spaniard, who started the day with a two-shot cushion, shot 1-over 71 to limp into the playoff.

But he took advantage of his opponents' poor play at the first extra hole, the par-4 18th. After Hart butchered it to make double-bogey, Damron missed a short par putt to hand the title to Garcia.

The 24-year-old tapped in for his fourth victory on the PGA Tour, his first in more than two years.

Tiger Woods, despite another poor day with his driver, finished one shot behind with Tim Herron and Duffy Waldorf.

Damron made his move with an eagle at the par-4 15th, while Hart birdied three of the final five holes.
