Woods leads Nelson Championship

IRVING, Texas, May 14 (UPI) -- Tiger Woods shot a 3-under 67 in blustery winds Friday to take the lead at the midway point of the Byron Nelson Championship.

It is the second straight week that the world's top-ranked player has led a tournament at the 36-hole mark. He eventually finished tied for third last week in Charlotte.

Woods was at 8-under 132 after two rounds and was a shot in front of his long-time friend Mark O'Meara. They will be paired for Saturday's third round at the TPC-Las Colinas course.

Sergio Garcia, Daniel Chopra, Jerry Kelly, Jonathan Byrd and Peter Lonard shared third place at 134.

Leading money winner Vijay Singh was among those at 135 while Ernie Els, returning to the tour after three weeks off, was seven shots off the pace. Recently crowned Masters champion Phil Mickelson surprisingly missed the cut by a stroke.

It took a score of even-par 140 to survive the 36-hole cut.
