VMI dismisses three football players

LEXINGTON, Va., May 13 (UPI) -- Three Virginia Military Institute football players have been dismissed from the school, Coach Cal McCombs said Thursday.

McCombs said junior defensive tackle Vicheal Foxx, junior defensive back Titus Green and freshman running back Chip Josephs are no longer enrolled at VMI because of a violation of institute regulations. He did not elaborate.

Foxx led VMI linemen in tackles, Green was the Southern Conference Freshman of the Year as a slotback in 2001. Last season he rushed for 252 yards, caught eight passes for 124 and scored three touchdowns. Josephs did not play in 2003.

In an unrelated matter, three freshmen football players -- wide receiver Demetrius Harrison, running backs Erik Baptiste and Quentin Forbes -- left VMI this week for personal reasons.
