Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

WASHINGTON, May 8 (UPI) -- Ross Paule converted a penalty kick in stoppage time Saturday as the Columbus Crew rallied for a 1-1 tie with D.C. United.
Winless on the season, the Crew (0-3-2) looked to be heading towards a loss when D.C. United defender Brandon Prideaux pulled down Frankie Hejduk in the 89th minute.
Paule put the ensuing penalty kick by goaltender Nick Rimando, helping the Crew end a 420-minute goal-scoring drought.
Dema Kovalenko scored in the fourth minute for D.C. United (1-2-3), which is 0-2-2 in its last four matches. Kovalenko has scored in consecutive games.
