MLB: Minnesota 7, Kansas City 5

KANSAS CITY, Mo., April 23 (UPI) -- Curtis Leskanic and Dennys Reyes combined to squander a ninth-inning lead Friday night as Minnesota rallied for a 7-5 win over Kansas City.

With closer Mike MacDougal on the shelf since the end of spring training with a stomach virus, Manager Tony Pena has had problems finding someone to secure late-inning leads.

Leskanic has both of the Royals' saves this season but blew one for the second time in this one.

After Minnesota scored three times in the eighth to get within 5-4, Leskanic (0-2) started the ninth by walking Lew Ford.

The righthander retired Henry Blanco before Cristian Guzman walked and Mike Ryan singled in the tying run.

Pena summoned Reyes, a lefthander who promptly walked Nick Punto and Doug Mientkiewicz to put the Twins ahead. Corey Koskie, who went three for four with three RBI, added some insurance with a sacrifice fly.
