PHILADELPHIA, April 18 (UPI) -- Doug Glanville led off the bottom of the ninth with a home run Sunday to lift Philadelphia to a 5-4 win over Montreal and a three-game sweep.
The Phillies signed Glanville, the team's starting center fielder from 1998-2002, to a one-year contract worth $550,000 in January to serve as a backup to starting outfielders Pat Burrell, Marlon Byrd and Bobby Abreu.
The 33-year-old Glanville left Philadelphia and signed with Texas last season after being unseated as the starting center fielder by Byrd. He was acquired by the Chicago Cubs in July and contributed a game-winning triple in the 11th inning of Game Three of the National League Championship Series.
After entering as a defensive replacement in the seventh, Glanville pulled a 3-1 pitch by Rocky Biddle (0-1) over the left field wall.
